The Local Area

The cottages are located virtually equidistant from four public houses The Ship Inn, The Sloop Inn, The Square and Compass Inn, and The Artramont Arms. All can be walked to within half an hour or so (or less depending on how thirsty or hungry you are!) with the Ship Inn and Sloop being the closest respectively. All serve good food and a selection of beers and are family friendly establishments.

It is just a short 15 minute car journey to the historic Cathedral City of St. Davids, or alternatively there are regular bus services all year round and a summer coastal bus service that run along the nearby coast roads. These can be reached by walking to the coast road and in most cases operate on a hail and ride basis. St Davids is Britain’s smallest City and has acclaimed restaurants, tea rooms and shops. There is a small supermarket, family butcher and delicatessen for all those essential items, as well as gift shops and ice cream parlours. There are a range of shops and small supermarkets in nearby Fishguard and also Haverfordwest.

There are several excellent bathing beaches nearby. Traethllyfn and Abereiddy being the closest with Whitesands and Newgale a little further. Both Whitesands and Newgale are popular, especially with surfers and both have lifeguards during the summer. Abereiddy is smaller and is famous for the ‘Blue Lagoon’ a flooded slate quarry; Traethllyfn is only accessible by walking either via the tracks through farm land or via the coast path from Porthgain or Abereiddy. There is a public swimming pool in Fishguard, Sports Centre some 20 minutes away by car. A selection of literature and local guides are provided in the cottages and we can source additional information if you require.

We look forward to welcoming you to Pembrokeshire
